Batman!

This excellent Batman sculputre (inspired by the 3723 official Minifig Sculpture) was designed by Deane VanLuven. There is fantastastic detailing (using SNOT) on the torso.

Too big for his boots ... well one boot anyway!

Ok, so he might have only been around a few days, but he is already causing trouble!

He has already claimed the lounge as his own territory and is planning an assault on the study next!

I was going to make some more of his friends to keep him company, but not sure now as he will probably want to take over the whole neighbourhood!

New Aquisition!

Look what turned up at 7:30am this morning! As soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it... I havn't had time to clean it up or anything yet, but apart from a few small missing pieces it all works fine.

It comes from (or was at least made at the same time as) the display in Hamley's, London in the Summer of 1989. You can see an article in the 'Bricks 'n' Pieces' magazine that Richard highlighted earlier here:

Like other display models the limbs are held on with wing-nut fixings which can be tightened and loosened to allow different poses. The pistol is removable and is Red because Brown bricks were not used a lot at the time.

LEGO Builder's Guide Book

If you want to start building to scale, but are unsure where to start you could do worse than to pick up a copy of the 'Unofficial LEGO Builder's Guide' by Allan Bedford (No Starch Press)

It has an entire chapter related to the building of larger scale bricks including the topics; 'How It's Done', 'What Scales Work and Why' and 'Approximation'. It has step-by-step examples of how to build a few simple bricks and covers 4:1 to 12:1 scales.

Fire Chief's Car

This is a project that I am currently working on. It is a ten scale vesion (ten times the dimension, 1000 times the volume!) of the classic set 6611 from 1981.


You can see the original set sat on the seat in the above picture, so this gives you some idea of the size!

All the pieces can be separated, just like the original set, and then fit together to make the car. I am currently working on the Fire Chief minifigure himself and will post here when it is finally completed.
